Economic Impact Research - Major Events
Milicante Consulting is a leader in undertaking event and exhibition research. Conducting an economic impact assessment enables the quantification of the net economic benefit that an event contributes to an economy.
In general, an economic impact assessment is undertaken to portray the economic benefit of the event in an attempt to attract funding from external sources and/or to raise the profile of the event.
Governments place stringent criteria on conducting an economic impact assessment. Failure to adhere to recognised criteria will result in potentially flawed results that may be rejected by Government. Government will primarily focus attention on ‘new’ expenditure to the geography of interest rather than expenditure that results from ‘local’ residents.
Conducting an economic impact assessment requires detailed research, that is sufficiently categorised to enable both direct and indirect expenditure to be measured, to ensure a thorough assessment of the economic impact of the event.
Milicante Consulting has vast experience having undertaken multiple economic impact assessments for the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions and other major event organisers since 2002. Economic impact assessments conducted by our group include:
